Our History

Our furniture story began in 1991 with the opening of our first store in Bangor, Maine under the name Dunham’s Discount Furniture. Being family oriented, our son Jim joined us on our new exciting adventure, and from here our business took its roots and began to grow.

It was, and always will be, our mission to offer quality furniture at affordable pricing and to offer excellent customer service.

Even though the Bangor market was good to us, in 1994 we decided to move our store closer to home, bringing us to the town of Dover-Foxcroft. For the next five years furniture left our store to many families in the area, and we made many new friends. But soon growing pains set in and we decided to move our store to Dexter, Maine in 1999. Our store in Dexter grew and soon another family member joined our team to better serve the community. Trish, Jim’s wife helped us with sales and the management of our Dexter location.

In 2006 we decided to open our second location in Bangor, Maine. Our son Brian, and his wife Kim, run the store and have brought our family values in the furniture industry to the Greater Bangor area.

You would think that running two stores would be more than enough work for one family but with our strong family unit we opened our third location in Newport, Maine in 2009. Dodie runs the store here most of the time with the assistance of a friend.

This brings us to today, one family and three furniture stores!
